A native of Lakewood, Colorado, Kara graduated with a bachelor’s in Cellular/Molecular Biology from Cal State, Chico and a Master’s degree in Integrative Physiology from CU Boulder where she completed research in how to promote healthy aging. Kara continued her educated by earning a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Stanford University where she completed a concentration in Community Health, involving independently led research into promoting health in elementary school-aged children through schools. As a physician assistant, Kara’s clinical interests include preventive medicine, cardiology, women’s health and working with patients of all ages.“My goal is to meet the patient where they are at, always assess their health goals first, and use their goals to help guide patients to fulfilling lifestyles that promote health and manage chronic conditions.”Kara’s parents inspired her passion for health. Her mother is an occupational therapist and very caring, which she tries to emulate. Her father is always encouraging Kara and her sisters to explore new hobbies and be their best version. When not working, Kara enjoys running (she ran at an elite level for five years, culminating in her participation in the Olympic Marathon Trials), hiking, rafting, skiing, hunting, and spending time with her husband and dogs.
